Sir David warns of:

“perfect storm of population growth, climate change and peak oil production’, leading to ‘insecurity in the supply of food, water and energy”.

Personally, I agree with what Sir David is saying. In fact, I have been concerned about this issue for over 20 years, though have not discussed it much, especially in the early years; partly due to a sense of taboo. It was one key reason I emigrated from the United Kingdom to Australia in the late northern winter of early1997.

I particularly like to strip an issue down to its basic raw logic, regardless of my opinion, and then embrace the objective truth I find. One reason for this is that I have no wish to be a fool. I want my head to be clear and full of truth; not clogged with lies I am telling myself. In this instance I think along these lines:

• Resources on earth are finite.
• Population growth will increase pressure on, and demand for, increasingly scarce resources.
• The human race is not known for genuinely peaceful tendencies.
• We have a strong biological instinct for self-preservation.
• When it comes to the crunch, the majority of us will not be peaceniks – biological and other urges will kick in.
• The animal kingdom is very competitive. Fights/wars over food and other resources are common place, both within species and with others.
• We are arrogant and have hugely over estimated our importance. In 100 years the vast majority of us here now will be forgotten. Who remembers the ant that was crushed beneath the boot of a Roman soldier in Britannia in the year 88 AD? Only God – the divine/cosmos etc, and of course light*. (*If you were far enough away from earth, and had a powerful enough telescope, you would see the Romans wandering about because of the nature of light travel).
• Nature and biology WILL correct over population. It’s just a question of when, and how. The natural law will work, regardless of whether we believe in it or not.
• The strongest, fittest and the cleverest thinkers will survive. Politically incorrect maybe but nature is not full of vile PC crap. Another name for it is natural selection. Get over it. (More on political correctness).
• Many religions vastly over emphasise the importance of mankind. Some minimise the importance of animals. These religions are not balanced, nor are they the original spirituality of the human race (which is Shamanism).
• One day, they could be coming for you, your resources and your food. And it won’t be in peace. It’s biology. I will survive. Will you?

I sent an email about the issue to the Prime Minister of Australia – Julia Gillard, and a Senator – Joe Ludwig. The text is copied below – feel free to use it yourself for a similar email or letter  if you wish.

Good morning Prime Minister,

I hope you have a fantastic day – no doubt it will be much better than those of Australian sheep and cattle exported live to the Middle East.

For some time now, I have been monitoring the cruel events over there.

One concern I have, and it is just one, is that Australians are guilty by association and financial benefit, of the appalling cruelty to animals that results from live export.

Australia is nominally a Christian nation. To tolerate such an abuse of animals when we can not only stop OUR involvement, but set a shining example to the rest of the world, indicates that we as a nation are clearly not Christian in practice.

Please do all you can to stop the participation of, and benefit by, Australian people – business people, farmers, their children and so on in this vile live export.

My first impression is that it seems to make sense and I am someone with strong left AND right sides. I love both logic and the intuitive feminine aspects. In fact, I personally experience a lovely interweaving – just one example is that the ways of Spirit are based on law. I.e. if we think according to Spirit then we WILL get the result. Years ago, I watched Firefox (a movie with Clint Eastwood in it) – part of it was ‘think in Russian to fly the plane’. So it is with Spirit.

It may change your world view and the way you think about life. And the way you live it.

You may have to eat some humble pie first though; before you can change.

I liked much about the video, including the clever use of animation (it is very watchable).

It was interesting to see their take on religion; and how it has caused problems. Bear in mind that Shamanism (which is not a religion) was our first spirituality; back when we had ‘real community’ within the tribal system. In my view, we need to go back to our shamanic roots as a collective people. Shamanic principles are similar the world over, regardless of race or skin color.

Religion is from the bad side of  man. Shamanism is from Spirit and is also ‘hard wired’ into our psyche.

Even fundamentalist Christians (& other Christian denominations) practice aspects of Shamanism unawares – one example is Christian ‘inner healing’; which is in actuality, a form of shamanic journeying. It works because it follows spiritual law (like the law of gravity works when you drop something). Spiritual law does not check first to see what denomination or religion you belong to.

Perhaps because many of them don’t know about the torment suffered by factory farmed chickens. Such horrific cruelty.

Australians pride themselves on giving people a ‘fair go’, so hopefully chickens will benefit as more people become aware of what is being done to chickens in their name.

‘Fair go’: I quote from Wikipedia:

The belief in a “fair go” is a key part of Australian culture and Australian society, related to the support for the underdog. This can be seen in the existence of strong public health and education systems in Australia, and equal opportunity legislation to ensure people are not excluded from jobs or positions by their race or gender. It is an idea which involves everyone having an equal chance to achieve their goals.

Factory farmed chickens suffer terribly & we as a society are responsible due to buying factory farmed meat based on such torment.

I guess that makes many of us a bunch of assholes (if we keep buying factory farmed chicken after seeing this).

Think of the cruelty being inflicted in YOUR name.

Cardiff schools keep pupils indoors after fox spotted

In my view, this is way over the top. (Unless of course rabies is now present in the UK).

When I was a boy, growing up in England and living in the countryside (Devon, Staffordshire & Warwickshire), I often saw foxes. I knew many country folk including farmers.

Foxes were nearby when I lived in a small village just outside Bath, Somerset from 1990 to 1997, and Gloucestershire immediately prior.

While living in and visiting London (my birth city) in the eighties and up until the late nineties, I saw many urban foxes.

Foxes were never considered a major threat to safety and I never heard of anyone being attacked by one. (Unless rabid and overseas – rabies is not known to be present in the UK).

Recently, a fox allegedly crept into a British house and savaged two babies.

If true (and I am not trying to create ‘spin’ that it isn’t) then we should ask ourselves:

These days we have foxes. In times past, in Britain, we had the ‘big bad wolf”.

We are worse off these days not only because of what we have done to fauna (& flora), but also our minds.

It seems schools have added irrational thinking and paranoia to the curriculum. I expect some are so proud of their splendid example. What leaders!

Schools are not just places where children learn facts. They learn and develop character. It seems we are in danger of raising a generation of  ’namby pambies’ with ingrained tendencies towards hysteria and paranoia.

So, when we go down to the woods today we need to be careful. We might meet a teacher/school administrator from Cardiff. Or someone from ‘Health & Safety’.

Besides being tedious and boring in my view, I think the games are a sign of a sad situation. Wonderful, creative human beings with huge potential spending their valuable life on what appears to me to be a cerebrally limited and meaningless activity.

All that said, such games are hugely popular and this infographic reveals some interesting facts. These games are a massive business.
