Broaden your mind, deepen your understanding, educate yourself.

I am a big believer in education.

Early in my life I had a somewhat disjointed and varied education.

At one point I attended one of the best schools in the world (Rugby School). The education at Rugby School was first class, though other aspects of school life were not and left me with lasting emotional and psychological damage (which I personally had to later fix). I was not the only one who suffered greatly either.

After Rugby School I had a very varied experience, including some terrible disasters. These were due in part to my underlying psychological problems, many of which predated my time at Rugby School (being at the school exacerbated them, as well as added more).

After managing to stabilize somewhat I obtained a Diploma in Business Studies (Distinction) as well as an Economics and Accounting qualification.

I then went off the rails again educationally and flunked university. By time I had sorted myself out psychologically and gained tertiary qualifications many years had passed and I had missed out on what was in my youth a free university education (for many years now people have had to pay for it); therefore experiencing a financial ‘penalty’ as well.

Today, I am conducting research and continuing my education in a few fields, which include Shamanism, Personal Development and Internet Marketing. I have not stopped educating myself. The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don’t know.

Simply, despite having had varied and at times extremely unpleasant experiences with education, I know it is a very important aspect of life.

Education can help you in so many different ways. It is important though to have quality tuition and material, and to study what is right for you. Education should be mixed with wisdom. Wisdom can often be lacking however. That is a reason why there are so many educated derelicts, failures and incompetents.

When was the last time you read a book?

Don’t laugh.

Many people not only cease to educate themselves after leaving school, but some of them never bother to read anything worthwhile again either.

Look for ways that you can educate yourself today. Ideally select something you have an interest in (I remember being forced to study irrelevant (for me) uninteresting crap), though be careful that you do not discount some of the less palatable stuff which you need to know.

Try and learn from people who are very good at what they do – focus on quality. As you expect and seek quality in life, then you will find that life tends to provide it in one way or another. (Law of Attraction). Do not settle for second best. Your life is ticking by and is worthy of the best. Well, I hope that you think so anyway.

Here is a key education resource:

Thousands of video lectures from the world’s top scholars.

This resource is provided by Academic Earth, which is an organization founded with the goal of giving everyone on earth access to a world class education.

Postscript:

If I had my time again, and a choice….would I have gone to Rugby School? No, I would not. That said, whilst I had horrible experiences there I have turned it into a great positive; but that is because of how I fixed myself. The education was superb and I do not regret that part. Hopefully, these days, ‘things’ have improved there (I was a student there in the 1970′s). While at the school I developed a hardness, and an understanding of psychological warfare, that no adult should have, let alone a child. The hardness was to some extent rooted in prior events in my life, however a beneficial school experience should not have exacerbated it, nor developed it further, nor provided a catalyst for its manifestation.

If anyone reading this has issues from their time at Rugby School, or anywhere else for that matter, and needs counseling help then please get in touch. Besides being an experienced and effective counsellor, I have personal experience of the horror of it. Horror is a strong word, however that is what I felt.
