Physiotherapy advice online for injuries!

| February 5, 2009 | 2 Comments

Self manage your injury with expert physio guidance – online!

I know that at first thought this may seem ‘iffy’ or even ‘bad for you’. Things however, are not what they might seem.

A key focus with anything worthwhile in life should be on getting it right – not messing up yourself, or others. We all want to promote good health and associated practices, not hinder it.

When I came across the physical therapist website concerned I was intrigued to see how the service, which employs a number of qualified and trained Physiotherapists, approached the issue of providing quality care and services to its customers. Many sports injuries do not need hands-on treatment by a professional health care provider or Physiotherapist; instead, patients can often self-manage their recovery with the help of some expert advice.

Quality appears to be a key focus of the service and I quote: “Quality is of key importance to us, so we only employ Chartered Physiotherapists with many years experience in private practice, hospital or sports settings“.

I had a look at their list of Physiotherapists and am impressed. One works as physio for Yorkshire County Cricket Club, another with Leeds United FC – a premier English football/soccer club (don’t tell them I called it soccer). Another has worked with the Great Britain National Cycling Team. There are other noteworthy Physiotherapists – too many to mention all here. To me, they seem like an elite bunch. A good sign I think.

Self managing appropriately classified injuries online seems like a great idea to me. A key advantage is time saving. Time is such a precious resource. The organisation – Physio Bench – mentions many benefits resulting from their online program and I quote from their website:

No appointment necessary

No waiting list

Fill in the assessment anytime you want, day or night

Follow the assessment process at your own pace. We don’t put you on the spot.

No visit to a clinic or hospital needed

You will get a response within 3 working days

Save your petrol. No need for lengthy journeys to a clinic or hospital.

For business travellers, a personalised exercise plan can be taken out & performed as easily in a hotel room as at home

If you go travelling, take our address as you know we can help wherever you go.

We are a third of the cost of equivalent services provided by a “hands-on” private physio.

You get to choose a physio

We have a broader range of physios in one place than you would find in most other physio practice

You can get access to physios who are specialists in their field

No need to try and remember your exercises. We provide you with your exercise plan in pdf format, which can be printed out.

Secure process – rigorous confidential standards in line with the Health Professional Council standards of procedure

You are able to view your previous programmes of treatment

As you can see, the benefits are significant.

A benefit which, as far as I can see, they don’t mention, and which I think is very important, is this: the online Physiotherapist service will make it more likely and easier for people to ‘bother’ and get something done about their condition. Many people don’t bother to get themselves checked out, yet some of them really should. This online physiotherapist service helps reduce ‘barriers to entry’ of treatment.

Another thing (benefit) I like about this service is that it will help people who are self conscious about their bodies and who would therefore otherwise not get the help they need. You see, if an injury appears to be, (or is), non urgent or serious, then it is very easy not to bother; especially if you have issues about how you feel about the look of your body.

Looking after your body correctly is very important. Good physical health maintenance is a key foundational aspect to balanced personal development.
