Have you achieved success? Do you know what success really is?
Here is an interesting quote on the subject of success…
“He who has achieved success has worked well, laughed often and loved much.”
– Elbert Hubbard
The quote is simple, and yet profound.
Basic logic, or common sense, tells us that the quote is worthwhile. (Just because something is a quote does not by itself mean it is any good).
If we examine our own lives in the light of the quote we can use it as a tool to expose areas we need to pay attention to.
For example:
- Are we working in a field we love?
- Are we doing a good job? Or are we second or third rate?
- Do we rip off our customers? Or others perhaps? Do we sell second-rate products or services?
- Do we laugh from deep wells within, or are we plastic and superficial? Do we really know what inner joy is? Are we happy?
- Do we love people, animals? Or do we kick the dog on the way out the door? Can we love strangers? Do we like putting others down? Are we a malicious gossip? Do we enjoy seeing the suffering of others?
Success is not about just money.
Remember; Adolf Hitler was very wealthy, had a huge art collection and loads of power – but was he a success? Of course not.
Where do you fit on the scale of true success?
