Help pets, or charity, while you search the web!
Search engines — most people use them to find things on the web.
These days Google is the most popular search engine and I expect that many people use nothing else. I remember the days before Google and whilst it is my search engine of preference, I do at times use others.
I have just discovered that Dogpile, a search engine which predates Google, is doing something to help pets in need. A nice touch.
When you search the Web on Dogpile.com they will donate a portion of revenue generated to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA®).* The more you search, the more they’ll rescue. It’s that simple. Their goal is to raise $1 million for pet rescue by the end of 2009.

Search on Dogpile.com and help rescue pets.
If you want to help other charities in general, including very specific pet charities, then you can use Everyclick. Everyclick is based in the UK, as are the charities it supports. Personally it does not concern me which country the charities are in because at least the searches can help someone, or some animal. If we all just search on Google then no charity benefits.
For those interested in search engine search data, Dogpile has a nifty button called SearchSpy – click on it and you will get a glimpse of some of the searches being performed on Dogpile.
